And the survey says … Vitality motivates members to achieve their healthcare goals

We’re firm believers in the often-quoted saying, “If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.” In our quest to ensure that Vitality meets the needs of our clients and members, we regularly conduct satisfaction and participation surveys. Our latest poll finds we’re helping employers make strides in motivating employees to achieve their health goals and improving workplace cultures — and ultimately health and well-being.

Here’s what our members are thinking per the survey:

  • 93% said Vitality improves the culture of their workplace
  • 85% said the program feels personalized to them
  • 90% said the program helps improve aspects of their health and well-being
  • 95% said the program motivates them to achieve their wellness goals

Improving health isn’t an easy business and many companies are quick to make claims of immediate savings and huge ROI, often with underwhelming results. Because of this, many have incorrectly focused on ancillary targets, such as culture and engagement. While culture and engagement in the workplace are important, many companies have made investments in health – such as on-site gyms – without creating a culture in which their employees feel empowered to use them. What’s missing is a true emphasis on health – improved health and culture.

It’s a focus on the right combination of evidence, science, incentives, and engagement that impacts culture and ultimately, health. This survey is one of the ways we regularly check in with our clients and their employees to ensure we’re on track with those strategies. While we’ve got much work to do, it’s rewarding to see our efforts to offer personalized programs and cater to the needs of various demographics having an impact on workplace cultures and improved health and well-being.
