Adrian Gore, CEO of Discovery, The Vitality Group’s parent company, received the Geneva Forum for Health Award at a May ceremony during the Forum for Health in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mr. Gore is the first to receive the award from the private sector since it was established in 2009. Now in its eighth year, the Geneva Forum for Health is aimed at advancing the global dialogue on best practices in health systems by providing global leaders with an opportunity to share their experiences and learn from successes.

Hosted annually by McKinsey and Company, the Award recognizes advances and contributions in health systems that have improved or have the potential to fundamentally improve the health of people around the world.

One of four to receive the Award this year, Mr. Gore is in exceptional company. Fellow recipients include the Aravind Eye Hospital in India – a network that has treated more than 32 million patients, mostly for free; Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Office for the U.K. and widely lauded for her advancement of health research; and Professor Therese N’Dri Yoman, former Minister of Health for the Ivory Coast, and a respected public health advocate.

Commenting on the achievement, Gore said, “I am truly humbled by this recognition of Discovery’s effort, as a business, to bring about positive change in the health and well-being of people. I view it also as a manifestation of the success of Discovery’s shared-value business model in being globally relevant, and I am hugely honored to have been chosen.”
